An orthotic is an assistive orthopedic devices that is used to alter foot function. Orthotics are generally designed to treat, adjust, and support a wide myriad of mechanical disorders of the lower extremities. Some orthotics are simple, commercially-made devices, such as cushioned heel cups or insoles sold at numerous stores over-the-counter.
